Doorman in the Rain, 1950

A doorman standing in torrential rain outside the Empire Theatre (Leicester Square) in November 1950 waiting for VIPs to arrive for the Royal Film Performance. It’s great to have a second photo in this series to give some context (and size of the crowd. Just look at how many people are there (and most of them without umbrellas). They must be absolutely drenched!

The photographer was Cornell Capa for LIFE Magazine.
